Sunset Ellie - Close up painting of an African elephant, detailing his eye in particular.

It was painted from a photo taken in beautiful glowing African sunset light as he was throwing dust up with his trunk.

Ingwe-2 - 'Ingwe', being the Zulu name for Leopard in Kwa Zulu Natal. South Africa

Painted realistically, in a modern form, from a photo taken in Kruger National Park

Splash - SUNSET CHEETAH - This beautiful boy was relaxing in the cool of the evening just as the sun was setting. The photographic image (from which I painted) captured the beautiful reds and golds in his fur and lit up his eyes to perfection.
GREAT EGRET - For once I am painting wildlife out of Africa - but I just could not resist this majestic bird which I am told is found mainly in the Florida area. The photograph, from which I painted, was taken of the bird sitting on its nest of sticks in the early evening and the sunlight glow on its magnificent feathers is just beautiful.

The Original painting has been sold.
Thank you to Tim Comeaux for the image.
MADIBA PROTEA 2 - Named after the late Nelson Mandela - 'Madiba'

These are usually found growing naturally in and around Cape Town, South Africa, however they are grown in gardens in all parts of South Africa.
They come in various colours, Pinky, Redish and White.

I find the Pink ones ( as these ) the most attractive. MADIBA PROTEA 1 - Named after the late Nelson Mandela - 'Madiba'

They usually travel in large flocks and a pair bond normally for one season only, with the male feeding the female while she nests. Unseen, they can be identified by their schrill call. Hes my Brother - 'African Wild Dog', alternatively known as the Painted Dogs.
They roam in packs and it is unusual to spot one on its own like this little guy that's why I thought he deserved the name He's my Brother.
